Introduction to the Orchestra

23Arts artist-in-residence pianist Tanya Gabrielian joined forces with conductor Robert Manno and a student string orchestra hailing from the Bard College Conservatory of Music for a week-long school workshop series followed by an assembly at the elementary school and free community concert in Hunter, NY.
Gabrielian led daily workshops with 3rd-6th grade students at Hunter-Tannersville Central Elementary alongside music teacher Shannon Hoyt, introducing students to different elements of the orchestra and the composers that would be featured at the assembly and concert.
These daily workshops culminated in a full orchestra visit to the elementary school to pay excerpts of Mozart, Strauss, and Saint-Saens, while the free evening performance featured full pieces by Mozart, Strauss, Bach and Saint-Saens.
