Standards Old, New & Blue with the Steven Feifke Big Band

  • Orpheum Film & Performing Arts Center 6050 Main St Tannersville, NY, 12485 United States (map)

Witness the Steven Feifke Big Band deliver its world premiere of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue arranged for big band and world-renowned classical pianist Tanya Gabrielian.

New York-based pianist, composer, and bandleader Feifke returns to the mountaintop with his Big Band of Catskill Jazz Factory All-Star musicians in an electrifying night of jazz standards old, new and blue that will culminate in the premiere of his specially-commissioned arrangement of Gershwin's masterpiece.

In addition to the special guest appearance by Gabrielian, who is the 23Arts Initiative’s artist-in-residence for 2015, Feifke’s band will feature past Catskill Jazz artists including but not limited to acclaimed trombonist Chris Washburne, trumpeter Benny Benack III, and saxophonist Caleb Curtis Wheeler.

Talented beyond his years, Feifke has been called “a virtuoso and a highly communicative and creative musician” by Grammy Award–winning trumpeter Brian Lynch.

Gabrielian has been called "a pianist of powerful physical and imaginative muscle" by The London Times and "someone to watch" by American Record Guide.
