Her tenor saxophone recalls the mastery of legends like Joe Henderson and Dexter Gordon, while her scintillating singing and “remarkable scat prowess” (All About Jazz) has been compared to Ella Fitzgerald and Betty Carter. Camille Thurman is indeed one of the most astonishing young artists in Jazz today, fronting one of the music’s best quartets.

Kicking off the 5th annual 23Arts Summer Music Festival, Thurman honors what would be the 90th birthday of legendary pianist Horace Silver, offering fresh new takes on the music of the the “Hard Bop Grandpop” and exploring his soulful Jazz-Funk of the 1970s with exciting new arrangements and lyrics.

About Darrell Green:
Music is definitely part of Darrell Green’s family pedigree — his father was a bass player after all — but this jazz drummer also has his own preternatural sense of groove. Over a career that’s spanned more than two decades, Green has become a master technician and prolific sideman, sharing stages with everyone from Blue Note vibraphonist Stefon Harris to saxophonist Red Holloway. Though jazz is his primary focus, Green is conversant in every genre from straight-ahead jazz to Latin and West African music. Read more
